Joe F. Griffin, DDS

Dr. Joe F. Griffin, DDS

After graduating with honors from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry, Dr. Griffin immersed himself in the exciting discipline of Dental Implantology. Having completed the basic dental implant placement course from the Perio Institute, Dr. Griffin realized the field of implant dentistry required much more than a model, tabletop-type course. He completed the Root Form Implant Externship at the renowned Midwest Implant Institute in Columbus, Ohio. This one year training program has trained hundreds of doctors in the fields of periodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, and endodontics in a live surgical environment.

Having a firm understanding of the anatomy and surgical technique of implant placement, it became clear to Dr. Griffin that bone and soft tissue grafting must be utilized to provide superior aesthetic and functional results. His training in advanced bone grafting began with the Zimmer Institute of Puros Allograft Block Training. To further become proficient in bone and soft tissue grafting, Dr. Griffin completed the advanced bone and soft tissue grafting cadaver course at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston. This training also offered him the implementation of the Piezo surgery technique. This utilizes the new, innovative bone grafting method that provides a safer, more conservative approach to the traditional rotary bur instrumentation.

These procedures are often intimidating to the patient, and their comfort is a chief concern. Understanding the need to provide adequate pain and comfort control, Dr. Griffin completed a residency in Conscious Sedation at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. This training has enabled Dr. Griffin the ability to sedate patients with either oral sedatives or intravenous sedation. Dr. Griffin desires to make implant therapy a pleasant experience for every patient.
